An armed man has been charged after he led police on a dangerous chase through Hobart’s south.
Authorities received reports of an “armed person” at Redwood Road in Kingston around 2:15pm on Friday.
Police attempted to intercept the man in his white Holden Commodore in Kingston before he allegedly evaded officers and sped toward Hobart – weaving in between vehicles and driving on the shoulder of the Southern Outlet.
Authorities successfully spiked the man’s car before he abandoned it and fled on foot at Tolmans Hill.
A subsequent land and air search resulted in the man being located and arrested.
The 39-year-old faced court this morning on charges relating to firearms, breach of bail, driving while disqualified, evading police, dangerous driving and possessing a dangerous article in a public place.
“No one was injured during the incident,” police said.
“Police would like to speak to anyone who has information or vision of the white Holden Commodore in the Kingston and Tolmans Hill area between 1:30pm and 2:30pm yesterday.”
