Up to 40 people were involved in a major disturbance outside Hobart’s Republic Bar on Friday night, resulting in two arrests.
Police were called to the Elizabeth Street venue just before 11pm following reports of fighting that began inside during a performance by young rap artist Skux.
What reportedly started as an isolated altercation inside the venue escalated into multiple separate fights that spilled onto the street.
Footage from the scene shows a significant police presence responding to the incident, with officers working to disperse the crowd.

“When police arrived, up to 40 people were involved in the disturbance outside the premises. A large number of people were gathered outside,” a Tasmania Police spokesperson told Pulse.
“A short time later the crowd dispersed calmly.”

Despite the scale of the disturbance, no injuries were reported.
Two young women were arrested at the scene.
An 18-year-old woman from Claremont was charged with breach of bail, drug offences and possessing counterfeit money.
A 21-year-old woman was charged with behaving in a violent manner and was released on bail shortly after.
