Police have seized seven firearms, including shotguns and rifles, during a raid on a home in Deloraine.
Six of the seven seized firearms had been reported stolen previously and one had its serial number removed.
“Members of Northern Drugs and Firearms Unit were assisted by members of Western Criminal Investigation Branch, Deloraine Uniform and specialist police resources during the search at a private residence as part of an investigation into stolen firearms,” police said.
A 24-year-old man from the Meander River town was arrested at the scene and charged with multiple offences, including burglary, possessing stolen firearms, possessing a silencer and possessing a firearm with identification marks altered or defaced.
A 29-year-old woman from Deloraine was also arrested and charged with possessing stolen firearms.
Both will appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court in September.
