Detective Inspector Craig Joel said that while no child was physically harmed, police are treating the matter seriously.

“At this stage the man’s intentions are unclear and we are asking for any information from community members who may be able to assist the investigation,” Joel said.

“We understand some commercial vehicles such as garbage trucks may have been in the area at the time and may have relevant footage,” Joel said.

Authorities have urged the community to remain vigilant around schools and areas where children gather.

“Watch for vehicles that are parked in the wrong place, or for any people who appear to be trying to stop and speak with children away from responsible supervision,” Joel advised.

The public is encouraged to note down registration numbers or take photographs of suspicious vehicles and report them to school staff and police immediately.
