A Green Room Award-nominated cabaret that takes a humorous look at modern relationships will make its Tasmanian debut this weekend.
“The Last Word”, written and performed by Imogen Whittaker, will hit the stage at Hobart’s Hidden Theatre in New Town on September 6 and 7.
The show explores the often frustrating end of relationships through catchy songs and witty lyricism, with Whittaker’s compositions earning a nomination for Outstanding Original Songs at the 2025 Green Room Awards.
Whittaker draws musical inspiration from artists like Tim Minchin, Missy Higgins and Gillian Cosgriff.

From lamenting the abundance of men with names starting with “J” on dating apps to questioning why people flee from promising relationships, the cabaret offers what Whittaker calls “a totally objective take for everything”.
The performance has already sold out shows across multiple seasons in Melbourne, Geelong and Perth.

FringeFeed praised Whittaker’s “voice and a presence that would outshine anybody else” in a show that was “wonderfully well-written” and moves at a pace that “grabs the audience’s attention in a vice grip”.
According to promoters, the cabaret is suitable for anyone regardless of their relationship status, promising to take audiences “through the full spectrum of the modern dating landscape with joy, optimism and a heavy dose of humour”.
Tickets for the two Hobart performances are now available for the shows starting at 7pm on both nights.
