A baby has died and five others have been hospitalised after a devastating house fire in the Hobart suburb of Rokeby.
Emergency services were alerted to the fire on Benboyd Circle, about 17 minutes from Hobart’s city centre, shortly after 9am on Sunday.
Upon arrival, police and firefighters found the house fully engulfed in flames.
Inside the property, an infant was found dead.
A young child and an adult, both suffering serious injuries, were taken to the Royal Hobart Hospital.
Three other children sustained injuries described as non-life-threatening and were also taken to hospital for treatment.
The surrounding area remains off by police as investigations continue.
Fire investigators are currently examining the property to determine the cause of the blaze.
Police say a report will be prepared for the coroner.
