Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary is calling on supporters to grab anything on wheels and take part in a ‘Wild Ride’ this March to help raise money for animals in need.

The Wild Ride campaign will generate much-needed funds to support the sanctuary’s rescue operations, critical care hospital and rehabilitation services for injured and orphaned animals.

Sanctuary Director Greg Irons said the campaign allows participants to design their own unique challenge.

“You may want to do big feat of riding, 200 or 300km or something, or you may want to do something silly like ride your kid’s bike to work or hop on a pogo stick to your next meeting,” he said.

“It doesn’t have to be long … it can be something silly, it can be something that helps animals, it can even be driving a car.”

Irons has his own wild ride plans, committing to four rides throughout March.

He says he will load up his bike with a trailer full of supplies to assist wildlife, while also removing roadkill from roadsides as he goes.

“I’m going to check pouches of course in case there’s youngsters that need a helping hand and I’m going to go and do something for wildlife on each of those journeys,” he said.

“I may be picking up rubbish, I may be planting trees, it may be some education work.”

Every dollar raised through the Wild Ride campaign will go directly to supporting Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary and the animals in their care.
