Bracknell residents can now safely drink their tap water without boiling it first after TasWater lifted a precautionary boil water alert.
The alert, which affected all consumers in the Bracknell area, was initially issued last Thursday following advice from the Department of Health.
Kate Crawford, TasWater’s Acting General Manager of Customer and Community, said the company had been working diligently to ensure water safety before lifting the restrictions.
“We have worked closely with the DoH to thoroughly clean and test Bracknell’s water system to ensure it is safe for the boil water advice to be lifted,” Crawford said.

The company will continue to monitor the water quality in the area as part of its regular testing protocols.
While the boil water alert has been removed, residents may notice changes in how their water tastes and smells in the coming days.

“Separate to the recent Boil Water Alert, our treatment for taste and odours has been temporarily offline,” she said.
“Residents therefore may notice their water has a musty or earthy tone.”
She said the taste and odour issues do not affect water safety and residents can remain confident their water is safe to drink despite any unusual flavours.
“I would like to thank affected customers for their patience while we worked to resume supply of drinking water,” Crawford said.
