Brooker Highway reopens after truck crushes rear of car in multi-vehicle crash

A multi-vehicle crash involving a truck and three cars has resulted in the closure of the Brooker Highway at New Town this afternoon.

Emergency services are at the scene of the incident near Clearys Gates, where a truck has crushed the rear of a small blue car.

A Tesla and a Volkswagen are also involved.

Tasmania Police have blocked both northbound lanes and say traffic is being diverted at Federal Street.

“Motorists are asked to take an alternative route until the scene is clear,” a police spokesperson said.

Authorities have indicated that no serious injuries have been reported at this stage.

Updated, 5pm: The Brooker Highway has since reopened.
