A driver who crashed into a Burnie shopfront after suffering a suspected medical episode remains in hospital in a stable condition.
The 69-year-old’s vehicle mounted the kerb at the intersection of North Terrace and King Street shortly after 3pm on Tuesday.
It struck the external structure of an occupied building.
Police said preliminary investigations suggested the driver experienced a medical episode before losing control of the vehicle.
Emergency services transported the driver to North West Regional Hospital, where they were being treated on Wednesday evening.
Despite the business being open at the time of impact, no one inside was injured.
Damage to the building was described as minor.
Bystanders provided assistance to the driver before paramedics arrived at the scene.
Police thanked drivers for their patience during the road closure and commended those who came to the driver’s aid.
