Maintenance teams from TasWater arrived at the scene and are currently assessing the extent of the damage to the water infrastructure.
It remains unclear what caused the pipe to rupture or how long repairs might take to complete.

Police say traffic is not being impacted by the burst water main and motorists should drive to the conditions.
