A service station is set to make a comeback on the East Derwent Highway, revitalising a location that has been vacant since the demolition of a former service station in 2011.
Planning documents submitted to the Clarence City Council reveal that the new development will occupy the same site as the previous Caltex station.
The proposed station will feature three petrol pumps, parking, a convenience store and a coffee outlet, with access points from both Lowanna Road and the highway.
According to the application, the design of the new premises closely mirrors the previous station, with minimal changes to the original layout.

The development is expected to operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with fuel sales accounting for the majority of the business.
Traffic surveys of nearby petrol stations found that, on average, 70 vehicle movements were created through 35 vehicles entering and exiting the businesses daily.

The takeaway food services component is expected to generate a lunchtime peak of 110 trips, with 55 vehicles entering and leaving.
Locals have until August 5 to submit representations on the proposal.
