A driver in a car displaying red P-plates has had the vehicle seized after performing burnouts across both lanes of a road in Hobart’s northern suburbs, as spectators filmed the dangerous stunt.
The incident happened around 7:20pm on October 11 on Howard Road in Glenorchy, when the driver left the Spotlight car park and began revving his engine.
Footage shared on social media shows the vehicle’s tyres smoking as onlookers gathered to record.
The driver then performed several burnouts across both lanes, leaving tyre marks and damaging the road surface before taking off towards the Brooker Highway.

Tasmania Police have since clamped the vehicle “indefinitely”.
“The registered owner will be subject to police proceedings,” police said.

“Hooning and dangerous driving can have devastating impacts.”
Officers are urging anyone who witnesses similar behaviour to report it immediately.
