Two Tasmanian country music names have taken home Golden Guitars at this weekend’s Tamworth Country Music Festival.
Casey Barnes won his third Golden Guitar for Contemporary Album of the Year.
Barnes took home the award for his album ‘MAYDAY’, produced by Michael De Lorenzis and Michael Paynter, at the 2025 Golden Guitar Awards in Tamworth on Saturday night.
“A lot of amazing music has come out over the last 12 months so this really does mean a lot,” Barnes, who wasn’t able to make it to this year’s awards, said in an acceptance speech video.
The Wolfe Brothers opened the award ceremony with a performance of their song ‘Little By Little’, before later taking out an award for themselves.
The Wolfe Brothers, who were nominated for three Golden Guitars this year, won the award for Vocal Collaboration of the Year for their song “Beer in a Bar” with Kaylee Bell.
The Tasmanian band now have ten Golden Guitars to their name.
“[There] is a stack of talent and a stack of great mates [in this room],” Tom Wolfe said to the crowd.
“I think our favourite part of this genre is getting to collaborate with people, write songs with people.”
“It’s special that we won this because we asked Kaylee to do this song with us at the after party last year of the Golden Guitars … and then we kind of forgot about it.”
“And then a week later, she was like, are we still going to do that song? I was like, oh yes, Kaylee, we are.”
“So, we love Kaylee Bell and it’s even more special to us that we wrote this song with our great mate Max Jackson.”
Tom said he would be racing back home to Hobart ‘asap’ after the awards, with his wife due to give birth soon.
“I’ve had to book an earlier flight home tomorrow because my wife’s about to pop our third daughter.”
