Charge laid after teenager assaulted at Gowrie Park rodeo

A 19-year-old woman has been charged with assault after a teenage girl was allegedly attacked at a rodeo event at Gowrie Park in the Kentish region last night.

The incident occurred around 10pm when a disturbance broke out near the stage area.

A short time later, a 17-year-old girl was physically assaulted while walking back to her camping area.

Paramedics treated the victim at the scene. Her injuries are not believed to be serious.

The 19-year-old woman from Acacia Hills was charged with assault as part of the ongoing police investigation.

She was detained to appear before court.

Police say they maintained high visibility patrols throughout the rodeo event and conducted wand searches for dangerous items on patrons entering the venue.

No weapons were used in the assault and no other charges were laid during the event.
