Chemist Warehouse has renewed its partnership with the SHE Gynaecological Cancer Group for this year’s Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, setting an ambitious fundraising goal of $100,000.
The pharmacy giant raised over $65,000 through in-store donations last year, contributing significantly to SHE’s ongoing project to establish a cancer wellness centre in Hobart.
SHE Chair Scott Harris said the previous fundraising effort made a substantial impact on their progress.
“Every cent raised will go towards establishing the cancer wellness centre opposite the Royal Hobart Hospital,” Harris said.

“We are well on the way to achieving our fundraising goal so that we can start building the centre, but we’re not there yet and every dollar that we raise will get us one step closer.”
The fundraising initiative aligns with the upcoming JackJumpers Teal Game scheduled for Friday February 6, the fifth anniversary of the event.

JackJumpers CEO Christine Finnegan said the the annual fixture holds a special place in the heart of fans.
“The Teal Game is bigger than basketball,” Finnegan said.
“It’s important to raise awareness about ovarian cancer and it’s also really important to the JackJumpers to continue to play a role in raising funds for the Cancer Wellness Centre.”
Members of the public can support the cause by making donations at Chemist Warehouse stores nationwide or by purchasing Tasmania JackJumpers Teal jerseys, which will be available from January 21.

Additional fundraising initiatives include virtual seats going on sale later this month and an auction of the Game Day Teal jerseys worn and signed by the JackJumpers players.
