Residents of a remote rural aged care facility on Tasmania’s East Coast were surprised with a visit from a Christmas Grinch on Wednesday, bringing cheer to mark the beginning of the festive season.
In a video shared on the May Shaw Facebook page, the Grinch could be seen racing around the Swansea facility, greeting and hugging elderly residents.
Usha Thapa, the Director of Facilities at May Shaw, told Pulse the facility’s ‘Leisure & Lifestyle Team’ dressed up for the special occasion in an effort to bring happiness to their residents, staff and community.
“One of our residents in particular described her visit from The Grinch as ‘the best thing she’s seen’ here at May Shaw,” Thapa said.
Usha said it wasn’t the first time the organisation had arranged for a visit from the festive favourite.
“The Grinch was so well received last year at May Shaw, so we decided to video the visit this year so it could be enjoyed by all.”
Meanwhile, shoppers at a Coles supermarket on Hobart’s Eastern Shore were taken aback on Monday when they spotted a ‘Christmas Grinch’ restocking the shelves.
It is believed the Grinch was an employee of the Eastlands store.
