Cigarettes stolen from Devonport service station in early morning theft

A service station on William Street in Devonport has been targeted overnight by offenders who reportedly smashed their way inside through a window.

The incident occurred around 1:15am on Monday, with the offenders stealing a quantity of cigarettes.

A spokesperson for Tasmania Police said one person is currently in custody assisting police with their inquiries.

“Anyone with information in relation to the theft, or suspicious activity in the area around the time, is asked to contact Devonport Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers Tasmania at crimestopperstas.com.au or on 1800 333 000,” they said.
