The Clarence City Council has approved plans for a new cafe and facade upgrade at a Warrane shopping complex, set to bring fresh food options to the local community.
The development on Dampier Street will include a 229-square-metre building designed for two food service tenancies, each with outdoor dining areas.
The existing retail building will also get a full makeover, featuring new roofing, upgraded entryways and coordinated signage to match the new structure.
Speaking at the council’s planning meeting on October 20, Councillor Daniel Hume said the project would be a welcome improvement for nearby residents.

“I’m very impressed with the design of this proposed development. It’s quite attractive. I think it’s going to improve amenity greatly in the area,” he said.
The plans include 21 on-site parking spaces, with a redesigned vehicle layout to improve traffic flow through the complex.

Under the new design, cars will enter from Bligh Street and exit onto Dampier Street.
Council planning staff found the proposal met the objectives of the local business zone and would cater well to the surrounding residential catchment.
A traffic assessment estimated the development would generate about 118 additional vehicle movements per day, with minimal impact on the local road network.
Operating hours will be 7am–9pm Monday to Saturday and 8am–9pm on Sundays and public holidays.
