A Clarendon Vale homeowner has been left reeling after watching thieves steal his $10,000 BMW motorcycle live through his home security system.
CCTV footage shows hooded offenders entering the property around 4am on Sunday before wheeling away the valuable bike.
The owner, who wasn’t home at the time, told 7 Tasmania he watched the theft unfold in real-time and felt powerless to stop it.
Adding to the distress, he said family members were inside the house during the break-in.

“Devastated. The fear of them coming over next time and potentially coming into the house,” the anonymous victim told 7 Tasmania.
“Very scary. I can’t even sleep. My daughter, my son and my wife, who were there at the time, but I wasn’t here to protect them.”

The resident said he installed security cameras nearly three years ago when he first moved to the area, but despite the precautions, he no longer feels safe.
“If one of my family members was awake at the time and panic and then one of them come out, then it could have been worse,” he said.
“And that’s my fear for our lives and also possession of our personal belongings.”
The motorcycle was later recovered by police in nearby Rokeby and remains with authorities as they investigate the incident.

Other households have reported similar crimes recently, including one in Invermay where CCTV captured wrench-wielding intruders forcing their way into a home late last week.
A 46-year-old Rocherlea man has since been charged with aggravated burglary and stealing in relation to that incident.
