Tasmania’s Cliff Masters competition is set to make a splash today, building on the success of the island’s inaugural freestyle cliff jumping event last summer.
The competition will take place from midday to 3:30pm at Spring Bay Mill in Triabunna, where athletes will perform acrobatic dives from heights of up to 25 metres.
Organisers have implemented several improvements for the 2026 event, including better road access to the Freestone Point Road venue, allowing spectators to come and go as they please.
Last summer’s event, which attracted around 350 spectators, was Australia’s first-ever Cliff Masters competition.

Event co-founder Pol Alberdi, who has flown from Spain, said spectator’s crave the appeal of the sport during the inaugural event.
“For people that have not seen [cliff jumping before], it kind of blows their mind at first sight because it’s something weird to combine flips into water,” Alberdi said during the last event.

“It’s not something you see every day. But I definitely think everyone here will enjoy it and have a great time.”
Local talent Rohan Wilcox, who helped bring the competition to Tasmania, said the popularity of the sport is growing.
“Freestyle cliff jumping in Australia has never been as big as it has been in America and Europe,” Wilcox said at the 2024 event.
“It’s definitely kind of needed a competition, I feel, and a good community.”

“We’ve really been pushing the Australian cliff scene. And now we’re here”
Today’s event will feature a festive atmosphere with food vans and live DJ entertainment, with tickets available for purchase on site.
Attendees are advised to arrive by 11am at the end of Freestone Point Road, where they will receive directions for parking and site access.
