The Coal River Valley vineyard has triumphed at the 23rd annual Canberra International Riesling Challenge, taking home the coveted Best Wine of the 2024 Challenge award.
Frogmore Creek Wines won the award for its ‘exceptional’ 2023 Frogmore Creek Iced Riesling.
The wine impressed the judges, earning the titles of Best Sweet Riesling and Best Australian Riesling.
Despite the impact of global economic conditions and high international airfreight costs on wine shows, nearly 330 Rieslings from 140 wineries across five countries were judged at this year’s event.

Under the guidance of Chairman of Judges Cameron Douglas MS, six judges and three associate judges evaluated the entries, awarding 61 Elite Awards, 93 Premium Awards and 115 Commended Awards.
“Great Riesling can be a beguiling experience with aromas, flavours and textures that resonate seamlessly with the palate,” Douglas said.

“From its bone-dry steely mineral expressions to lusciously sweet and rich, there is a Riesling for all occasions and palates.”
