Snow has fallen at low elevations across Tasmania, with flurries reported as low as 250 metres above sea level in a cold snap.
Residents of Oatlands in the Southern Midlands left work this evening to the sight of snow falling along High Street as a cold southwesterly airstream swept across the state.
Local photographer Bellah Goss captured the spring snowfall, with images showing white flurries falling on the the heritage town.
“Snow reminds us to slow down, to breathe and to find beauty in stillness,” Goss said.

The Bureau of Meteorology has forecast snow to fall as low as 200 metres in Tasmania’s far south by early Friday, with possible small hail and thunderstorms also expected in western and southern regions.
The cold front already delivered a dusting to mountain peaks across the state earlier today, with the snowfall expected to clear by Friday afternoon as a high pressure system moves in from the west.

Weather conditions are predicted to improve over the weekend, with fine weather forecast after areas of inland frost on Saturday morning.
Light winds are expected to develop into northeasterly conditions in the northwest by Saturday afternoon as temperatures gradually return to more seasonal averages.
