A fundraiser for a five-year-old boy fighting for his life in a Melbourne hospital after an alleged stabbing in Tasmania has raised almost $50,000.

Rogan was flown to the Royal Children’s Hospital after first presenting at the Launceston General Hospital with knife wounds shortly before midnight on January 19.

He has since undergone multiple surgeries and remains in a critical but stable condition, according to a fundraiser organised by his family.

A 33-year-old Ravenswood woman known to the child has been charged with attempted murder.

She also presented with non-life-threatening injuries and appeared in a bedside court sitting the following day.

Rogan’s aunt Janita Atkinson launched a GoFundMe campaign to support the boy’s father Josh, who travelled to Melbourne to be by his son’s side.

The fundraiser has attracted widespread community support, with donations climbing to just over $49,000 towards a $70,000 goal.

It states that funds will go towards travel costs, accommodation near the hospital, daily expenses and lost income for the family.
