Construction tenders released for JackJumpers high-performance centre

Tenders are now open for the construction of the new JackJumpers high-performance centre, which will be built next to the Kingborough Sports Centre in Kingston.

Sport and Events Minister Nick Duigan said the “first-class facility” is an important step for basketball and community sport.

The centre will provide the NBL team with dedicated training facilities while benefiting the wider sporting community.

The site will join other sporting developments in the area, including the planned Tasmania Devil’s high-performance centre.

Kingborough Mayor Paula Wreidt said there is strong community support for the basketball team and the new facilities.

“It’s fantastic to see the project progressing so quickly and the amount of excitement building in the community,” she said.

“Our community has a deep love for the JackJumpers and has warmly embraced them.”

JackJumpers CEO Christine Finnegan described what the facility means for the team.

“This centre will be the home to the Tasmania JackJumpers, a place where high performance and community intersect to create a place of belonging,” she said.

“We encourage those from relevant industries with the capabilities to be part of this exciting project which will contribute to the long-term success and sustainability of the JackJumpers.”
