Australian and New Zealand rock band Crowded House performed to nearly 4,000 fans at Hobart’s MyStateBank Arena last night, marking their first Tasmanian show in more than three years.

The gig drew 3,896 people as part of the band’s 2025 Australian tour.

It follows last year’s national run, which skipped Tasmania while they promoted their eighth studio album, Gravity Stairs.

MyStateBank Arena general manager Renee Brown said the night couldn’t have gone better.

“Everything went really, really well. Everyone had a great time. Everyone was up dancing by the end of the night,” Brown told Pulse.

To suit the band’s request for a more intimate atmosphere, the venue was configured with seating limited to a 180-degree view of the stage.

“A more intimate show is always a nice thing. Everyone gets a great view. The guys on stage love it,” Brown said.

Brown said the arena can seat up to 5,200 people for a show, but last night’s setup was “considered a sold-out show”.

Originally founded by Neil Finn, Nick Seymour and the late Paul Hester, Crowded House has remained a staple of the music scene for nearly four decades.

Over their career, the band has collected a Brit Award, 13 ARIA Awards, three Aotearoa Music Awards and an MTV VMA and has sold more than 15 million records worldwide.

Their 1986 self-titled debut album launched them internationally with hits including “Something So Strong” and “Don’t Dream It’s Over”.
