A customer has intervened to stop an armed robbery at a North Hobart Chemist Warehouse this afternoon, with the would-be thief fleeing empty-handed.
Police are investigating reports of the attempted robbery at about 1:15pm today.
A man reportedly entered the store armed with a knife and demanded money from staff.
The customer stepped in before the armed man ran from the store. Nothing was stolen and no physical injuries were reported.

The alleged offender was described as carrying a Woolworths bag and wearing a black hoodie with light blue jeans, blue and green sports shoes, red gloves and a piece of cloth covering his face.
The customer later posted about the incident on social media, describing hitting the armed man “in the back of the head with a heavy object” to prevent the robbery.

“I was bored waiting at Chemist Warehouse North Hobart today when some bogan … tried to rob the place with a huge knife,” the customer wrote.
“As others fled, I proceeded to hit [the person] in the back of the head with a heavy object and prevented the armed robbery.”
Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact Hobart Police on 131 444 and quote ESCAD 207-23022026.
