An event marshal has become an unlikely star of the Foo Fighters’ Australian-exclusive concert in Launceston, delighting concertgoers with impromptu dance moves that included flips and splits.

The marshal, positioned near the back of the general admission area at UTAS Stadium, was captured by concertgoers performing tricks as the American rock legends played on Saturday night.

Fans in the stands cheered him on as he showed off his unexpected talents throughout the show.

The Foo Fighters attracted approximately 25,000 people to what has been described as Tasmania’s largest-ever concert.

The American band touched down at Launceston Airport just hours before taking the stage.

The concert, secured with a $500,000 investment from the state government and $150,000 from Launceston City Council, was expected to inject more than $7 million into Tasmania’s economy.

Hospitality Tasmania CEO Steve Old said the event created “a real buzz” across the hospitality industry, with local businesses increasing staff hours to meet demand.

The show was the Foo Fighters’ first Tasmanian performance since 2015 and their debut in Launceston.
