David George Evans pleads not guilty to murder and arson following fatal house fire

A man facing charges of murder and arson in connection with the death of a woman in a house fire in Glenorchy in early January has entered a plea of not guilty.

David George Evans, 40, made the plea during his second appearance in the Hobart Magistrates Court on Thursday, as reported by ABC Radio.

He is yet to enter a plea for additional charges, including motor vehicle theft and intentionally setting fire to property, but pleaded not guilty to possessing a controlled plant, driving a motor vehicle with a prescribed illicit drug present in blood and unlawful possession of property.

39-year-old mother-of-two Alison Robinson was found dead inside the Sanders Street house following the blaze at around 7am on January 5.

Evans remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in the Supreme Court in Hobart in April.
