Police are investigating a deliberate vegetation fire that burned through Launceston’s Reservoir Road Reserve at Rocherlea on Tuesday.
Tasmania Fire Service crews successfully contained the blaze, preventing it from spreading to nearby areas.
On Wednesday, police deployed a drone to canvas the affected area and gather potential evidence.
Detective Inspector Nathan Johnston said investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing.
“Deliberately lit fires not only put the community at risk, but the lives of our emergency service workers,” he said.
“We will continue to work proactively with our partners at Tasmania Fire Service and actively investigate any reports of suspicious fire activity.”
He encouraged anyone who witnessed suspicious behaviour in the vicinity of Reservoir Road Reserve to come forward.
