Thousands of dollars in damage have been reported after a deliberately lit fire at the Launceston General Hospital in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Firefighters responded to an alarm at the hospital shortly before 6am.

They discovered a mattress in an occupied room had caught fire but was already extinguished.
Authorities said no injuries were reported.
Fire investigators determined the blaze was deliberately lit, with damage estimated at about $5,000.
The matter will be referred to Tasmania Police for further investigation.
