A “suspicious” house fire in Glenorchy has locals alarmed, with residents saying it is the latest in a string of suspected deliberately lit blazes in the area in recent months.
Emergency services were called to the property on Tolosa Street, near Dominic College, at about 11pm on Tuesday after reports a house was on fire.
Tasmania Fire Service crews from Hobart and Glenorchy arrived to find the home well alight.
Firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control, with the fire fully extinguished overnight.

A fire investigation carried out on Wednesday morning found the blaze had been deliberately lit.
One local told Pulse it was the fourth time in 12 months firefighters have shown up to a house fire in the area.

“Another house in Tolosa Street has been deliberately blown up and burnt tonight,” they said.
Another said multiple homes “and a large tree”, as previously reported by Pulse, have been targeted in recent times.
A police spokesperson told Pulse the property was unoccupied at the time.
“Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers Tasmania on 1800 333 000 or at crimestopeerstas.com.au,” they said.
