Brewlab is celebrating more than just a birthday after the Derwent Park brewery raised $652 for charity at its fourth birthday party on the weekend.
A record crowd of up to 400 people turned out for the event, helping push donations past the venue’s $500 target for the Salvation Army’s Doorways program in Glenorchy.
General manager Lesley van Tuil said the turnout exceeded expectations.
“We had a record turnout for the day with up to 400 people in and out through the day,” van Tuil said.

“We raised $652 when we were aiming for $500 so it was great.”
The celebration featured a keg raffle, with all proceeds going to Doorways.

The program provides emergency relief and case management, with referrals to internal and external support services.
Brewlab opened four years ago and has built a reputation as a community-focused venue that champions independent brewing.
Independent Elwick MLC Bec Thomas attended the event and praised the brewery.
“Brewlab is exactly the kind of venue that helps bring a community together, supporting independent brewers, creating a welcoming space for people to connect and always looking for ways to give back,” Thomas said.
