Tasmanian racing will broadcast live on free-to-air television today for the first time in over a decade as the Devonport Cup hits screens across the country.
The race will be shown on Racing.com, available on free-to-air television (channel 68 in Tasmania), Foxtel, Kayo and various streaming platforms, marking the end of a broadcasting drought dating back to 2012.
Tasracing CEO Andrew Jenkins said the breakthrough was made possible by cooperation from their long-term broadcast partner.
“Our new media rights deal with Sky, which started on 1 January 2026, has an FTA allowance for 10 Tasmanian thoroughbred meetings each year to be broadcast live,” he said.
The Devonport Cup meeting has received an additional boost with full coverage guaranteed for all races, as South Australian and Victorian meetings have been rescheduled due to forecast high temperatures.

Racing fans can expect comprehensive coverage with Matt Reid and Colin McNiff heading up the broadcast team, delivering pre and post-race analysis throughout the day.
The 10-race card begins at 12:30pm, with the headline Ladbrokes Devonport Cup scheduled as race nine at 5:07pm, before the meeting concludes at 5:42pm.
Star jockey Craig Newitt will attempt to secure his 10th Devonport Cup victory aboard the Barry Campbell-trained Earendel.
Jenkins says two additional feature race days from the current Ladbrokes Tasmanian Summer Racing Festival are likely to be broadcast on Racing.com as part of the new media arrangement.
