TasWater workers were faced with a “disgusting” job yesterday afternoon as crews were called to Deloraine to clear the town’s sewage system.
TasWater say the blockage was caused by “baby wipes” that had been flushed down the toilet.

The wipes do not break down like toilet paper, leading to blockages and disruptions in the sewerage system.
“If you think the pic is disgusting, imagine having to put on your work gloves to clear it,” they said.
“Our crews frequently deal with blocked and tangled infrastructure because the wrong things go down the toilet.”
They are now reminding residents across the state to only flush the three P’s: pee, poo and toilet paper.
