The Disney Wonder made her first visit to the Port of Hobart today, packed with cartoon-loving families and eager cruisers.
During a plaque ceremony on Monday morning, Premier and Minister for Tourism and Hospitality Jeremy Rockliff welcomed the first of eight Disney visits scheduled for Hobart over the summer period.
“Disney Wonder’s visit is a testament to Tasmania’s appeal as a destination and its growing popularity among domestic and international cruise visitors,” Premier Rockliff said.
“Cruise shipping plays an important role in Tasmania’s visitor economy, injecting more than $144 million into the State last year and supporting 455 jobs.”
Today’s arrival is one of nearly 160 cruise ships booked to visit Tasmania this season, bringing up to 287,000 passengers and 124,000 crew members to our shores.
The ship boasts 11 passenger decks and carries approximately 2,400 passengers, along with a crew of around 950.
Rotational dining in themed restaurants, Broadway-style shows, character encounters and imaginative spaces specially designed for families, kids and adults all make up the on-board experience.
Ships from Disney, Virgin Voyages, P&O, Princess and more will visit Hobart, Burnie, Port Arthur and some smaller regional ports this season.
