Commander Doug Oosterloo has been appointed as Tasmania Police’s new Assistant Commissioner, bringing more than 30 years of policing experience to the senior leadership role.
The appointment, announced by Commissioner Donna Adams, has taken immediate effect.
Oosterloo is replacing the retired Assistant Commissioner Glenn Keating.
Commissioner Adams says Ostolerloo brings “outstanding leadership and communication skills”.

“He will provide critical strategic leadership in this senior role,” she said.
“I’m confident that his capability, experience and drive will contribute immensely to positively shape Tasmania Police well into the future.”

She says she will be working with Osterloo to continue their focus on “back-to-basics policing”.
Oosterloo joined Tasmania Police in 1994, spending his first ten years serving on the North-West Coast before advancing through various policing areas including uniform duties, criminal investigation, recruit training and Professional Standards.
His career has involved overseeing critical projects including firearms reform, national information systems, and helicopter and marine vessel procurement.
Most recently, Oosterloo served as Commander of Statewide Services, leading a diverse command covering frontline support areas including Marine and Rescue, Radio Dispatch, Forensics, Firearms and Community Engagement.

His expertise extends to national counter-terrorism arrangements, including command, investigations, forensic response and intelligence. Oosterloo also holds a Graduate Certificate in Police Studies from the University of Tasmania.
