Driver escapes serious injury as car rolls on busy Launceston road

The Midland Highway in South Launceston has reopened following a single-vehicle crash that blocked traffic for almost an hour on Monday night.

Emergency services responded to the incident opposite McDonald’s just after 10:20pm.

Images from the scene show the vehicle appeared to collide with a barrier before rolling onto its side in the middle of the road.

Both northbound lanes were blocked while police worked to clear the scene.

Motorists were diverted through Pipe Works Road towards Glen Dhu during the closure.

No serious injuries were reported, police said.

The road was fully cleared by 11:13pm, with diversions lifted shortly after.

Police had urged drivers to avoid the area while crews worked at the scene.
