Drone helps police seize stolen trail bike in Clarence hooning operation

A trail bike rider pulling wheelies through Rokeby has been caught after police tracked him home using a drone, uncovering an allegedly stolen bike and a cannabis crop.

Officers spotted the man riding recklessly on Saturday and followed him via drone to a nearby address.

Police then raided the Rokeby property on Sunday with help from Taskforce Accountable, seizing the unregistered trail bike.

They say it had been reported stolen.

“Police will also allege that during the search, several cannabis plants were located at the address and seized,” a spokesperson said.

The bust is part of Operation Full Stop, an ongoing crackdown on hooning in the Clarence area.

Police also clamped a silver Ford Fairmont at Acton Park on Sunday after reports it was doing burnouts at Seven Mile Beach on November 15.

The car will stay clamped for 28 days.

“Engaging in hooning and unsafe driving not only places your own safety at significant risk, but also the safety of the public,” he said.

“We will continue targeting this high-risk behaviour utilising our drone capabilities.”

“If you hoon or drive dangerously, you face a very real possibility of losing your vehicle,” he said.
