A Launceston woman has been charged with high-range drink driving after allegedly recording a breath alcohol reading more than five times the legal limit following a crash in the city today.
The 37-year-old woman was taken into custody after a single-vehicle crash on George Town Road in Newnham around 11:15am.
Police arrived at the scene to find a yellow Hyundai Getz overturned on its roof, with the driver reportedly located a short distance away from the vehicle.
Police said following her arrest, the woman returned a breath alcohol reading of 0.261, more than five times the legal limit.
She has been issued an immediate one-year driving disqualification and has been charged with drink driving.
She was released on bail and will appear in court at a later date.
