Tasmanians can now cast their votes early at seven pre-polling centres as the state prepares for its July 19 election.
The Tasmanian Electoral Commission has today opened early voting sites in major population centres.
They will operate from 8:30am to 5:30pm on weekdays, with hours extended to 6pm on Friday, July 18.
Early voting centres are open in Burnie at 1/29 Mount Street, Devonport at 72 Rooke Street and Glenorchy at MyState Bank Arena.
In the south, voters can head to centres at Hobart’s Icon Complex on Murray Street, Kingston’s Kingborough Community Hub on Goshawk Way and the Sorell Bowls Club on Parsonage Place.
Launceston’s centre is open at 142 Charles Street, with another eight centres set to open across the state on July 14.
Vision-impaired voting services are available at the Burnie, Murray Street Hobart and Launceston centres, with special terminals to help voters with visual disabilities.
All locations offer a quiet voting hour from 10am to 11am each day for voters with sensory needs.
Voters must declare they cannot get to a polling place on election day before casting an early ballot at these centres.
No polling places will open interstate or overseas, with phone voting -available from 7 July – the best option for Tasmanians living elsewhere.
Postal vote applications close at 4pm on Friday, July 11.
