A 75-year-old man remains in a critical condition after being struck by a vehicle while crossing Davey Street in Hobart’s CBD on Tuesday night.
The incident occurred just before 8pm near the intersection with Hunter Street, when the elderly man and a 73-year-old woman were crossing the road outside of the designated crossing area.
Emergency services rushed to the scene where the man received immediate medical assistance before being transported to the Royal Hobart Hospital.
The woman, who was walking with the man at the time, escaped physical injury but was taken to hospital as a precautionary measure.

The crash forced the closure of two lanes on Davey Street for approximately two and a half hours while specialist police units conducted their investigation.
Forensic officers and crash investigators examined the scene to gather evidence that could help determine the exact circumstances of the incident.

Authorities are appealing for public assistance as they continue their investigation into the serious collision.
“Police are calling for witnesses or anyone who has CCTV or dash cam footage to contact police on 131444,” a police spokesperson said.
