A 74-year-old man who was hit by a car while reportedly attempting to clear debris off a Launceston road on Friday has died in hospital.
The man was rushed to hospital after suffering serious injuries in the incident on Invermay Road at around 5am on June 30th.
Police say nearby officers on patrol watched the incident unfold and investigations into the crash are continuing.
Elderly pedestrian seriously injured after early-morning crash
An elderly pedestrian has been rushed to hospital with serious injuries after he was hit by a vehicle in Invermay this morning.
The 74-year-old man was struck by a Mercedes while walking along Invermay Road at around 5am on Friday.
Police say nearby officers on patrol watched the crash unfold and provided immediate first aid to the man, who was on the road at the time he was hit.
He remains in the Launceston General Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
Crash and forensic investigations into the incident remain underway, with the driver of the Mercedes tested for drugs and alcohol.
