Elderly pedestrian dies week after CBD collision on busy Hobart street

A 75-year-old man has died in hospital following injuries sustained when he was struck by a vehicle in Hobart’s CBD earlier this month.

The elderly pedestrian was crossing Davey Street on April 8 when the incident occurred just metres from traffic lights.

Tasmania Police confirmed the man was taken to hospital in a critical condition after the collision but has since passed away from his injuries.

According to police, the pedestrian was not using the nearby traffic lights when he attempted to cross the road and was hit by an oncoming vehicle.

A police spokesperson said the circumstances surrounding the incident would be thoroughly investigated.

“A report will be prepared for the coroner,” the spokesperson said.

“Our thoughts are with the man’s family and loved ones at this difficult time.”
