An 88-year-old woman is in a serious condition in hospital after a two-vehicle crash in Hobart’s CBD on Monday evening.
The woman was a passenger in a white Subaru Forester that collided with a white Mazda sedan near the intersection of Davey and Molle streets around 5:15pm.
She was treated at the scene before being rushed to the Royal Hobart Hospital.
The 84-year-old driver of the Forester was also taken to hospital as a precaution, while the driver and sole occupant of the Mazda was not physically injured.
Police said the crash occurred as both vehicles were travelling in the far right and second-from-right lanes.
Traffic signals were damaged in the collision, forcing police to close three lanes on Davey Street and divert traffic via Sandy Bay Road.
Police are now calling for anyone who witnessed the collision to come forward.
“Police are calling for witnesses, including anyone with dash cam footage or CCTV, to contact police on 131 444,” a spokesperson said.
Investigations into the circumstances of the crash are continuing.
