The new Launceston Monopoly board has been caught with an embarrassing error just hours after its launch.
The board, which was unveiled at Launceston’s Cataract George yesterday, shows a picture of Brisbane’s Queen Street Mall in Queensland instead of Launceston’s iconic Brisbane Street Mall.
A local TikToker discovered the mistake and shared her findings on social media, pointing out the glaring mix-up on the custom board game.
“That is not the Brisbane Street Mall. That in fact is a mall in Brisbane,” TikToker Tilly Hannan said in her video.

“This is a Launceston Monopoly game … and that is a Brisbane Queensland mall.”
Winning Moves, the company behind the board, has apologised for the printing error and launched a competition asking locals to submit their own photos of the correct mall.

“Winning Moves would like to sincerely apologise to the Launceston community for the printing error of Brisbane Street Mall,” the company said in a statement.
The winner will receive a corrected version of the board, with submissions open until April 2026.
This isn’t the first Tasmanian Monopoly mishap.
The Hobart Monopoly board, released in 2021, misspelt “Kunanyi”, the Aboriginal word for Mount Wellington.

“What’s going on? Who’s making these monopolies?” Hannan asked in her video.
Launched was the second Tasmanian city to receive its own custom Monopoly game, featuring 22 local properties including Cataract Gorge Reserve, James Boag Brewery and Lilydale Falls.
Mayor Matthew Garwood said the game captured “a snapshot of our city”, before the error came to light.
“Launceston has a lot of places people genuinely love and feel proud of, so seeing them reflected in something as iconic as Monopoly is pretty fun,” he said.

The game is available at Big W, JB Hi-Fi and QBD stores.
