The site spans over 45-hectares and has approximately 196 metres of frontage to Kennedy Drive, a major road in the state’s “highest growth industrial-commercial precinct”.

According to the listing, the property has “potential for industrial subdivision, further aviation development or a combination of both”.

The airport is currently the busiest in Tasmania by air traffic movements and supports emergency services, tourism and pilot training – including local airline Par Avion.

It features four hangars, two runways, taxi-ways, aircraft parking areas and an old Aero Club building.

Minister for Transport Eric Abetz says he has been briefed by the owners and “recognises Cambridge Aerodrome’s role in aviation in Tasmania and supporting our emergency services”.

“We know there is industry interest in purchasing the aerodrome as a going concern and we would strongly welcome its continued operation,” he said.

The property is being sold subject to a short-term lease-back, providing holding income.

“Huge aviation and/or development options to value-add” are available, the listing reads.
