Hydro Tasmania is set to bring the historic Tarraleah Village back to life after buying it for $11.2m.
The town, which was built in the 1930s to house Hydro workers, had become a tourist attraction but fell into disrepair in the 1980s and 1990s before being bought in 2006.

Now, Hydro plan to use the village as a base for its ‘Battery of the Nation’ workforce once again, providing high-quality living amenities for workers who may find it challenging to work in remote locations.
Located in the Central Highlands, Tarraleah is a 147 hectare playground that includes six titles, town water supply, dam, electricity, sewerage, telecommunications infrastructure and road networks.
