A man in his mid-20s is in custody after allegedly driving erratically through Launceston’s CBD before crashing into another vehicle this morning.
Police say the black Hyundai i30 station wagon was seen being driven erratically on Wellington Street about 9:25am before hitting a car at the intersection of Wellington and York streets.
Officers had earlier tried to intercept the driver.
The man allegedly tried to flee on foot after the crash but was found by police on Elizabeth Street and taken into custody safely.

Traffic on Wellington and York streets was disrupted for about an hour following the incident.
No serious injuries were reported in the two-vehicle collision.

Police are now calling for anyone who witnessed the crash or has dashcam footage to come forward.
