Shoppers wanting to head into the capital this Christmas will soon have more options, with extra ferry services and a free park and ride starting next week.
The City of Hobart is adding 11 weekday ferry crossings between Bellerive and Brooke Street Pier from December 8 to 24.
Two new evening services at 6:10pm and 7pm will allow people to stay in the city longer, with a return trip at 6:30pm also added to the timetable.
The council says the expanded services are designed to ease traffic congestion and support retailers during the busy Christmas trading period.

The Regatta Grounds Park and Ride will also return, offering free parking and shuttle buses to the city and waterfront.
It will operate Monday to Saturday, with the car park open from 9:15am to 6pm and shuttles running between 9:30am and 5:30pm.

The ferry expansion is funded by the council with in-kind support from the state government.
It forms part of the City of Hobart’s broader transport strategy aimed at reducing reliance on inner-city car parks.
